Creative Minds Preschool Story
My name is Liz Peloquin
Creative Minds Preschool was founded in 2009, inspired by my own children—Ben, then three, and Bella, just one. As a mom and an early childhood educator with a degree from UNCW and five years of experience running a childcare center, I wanted to create a place where families could leave their children knowing they were truly loved and cared for. After seeing things in other programs that I wished I could change, I felt called to build a school where quality, ratios, and genuine connection came first. So, with credit cards, a prayer, and a leap of faith, my husband and I opened Creative Minds with just six small classrooms and a vision for something better.
With the love and support of our community, Creative Minds Preschool has grown from those six small rooms to over seventeen classrooms. Our mission has always been to teach children while also deeply loving them, creating a warm and nurturing place where they can thrive. None of this would be possible without the dedicated, amazing teachers who have helped shape CMP into the school it is today—a place built on passion, hard work, and a commitment to giving children the very best start.

Mission and Guiding Principles
Our program at Creative Minds Preschool is based on the philosophy that all children are exceptional and unique individuals. We understand these are the most important years in a child’s development. We believe that children learn best through active participation with their environment and with other people. Therefore, we support a hands-on approach to learning for all ages. Teachers act as facilitators by providing a variety of opportunities and experiences to promote learning and growth in all areas; language, cognitive, emotional, social and physical development.
At Creative Minds Preschool, we recognize the importance of the child’s family and encourage their participation in decisions about their own child’s care, education and on the overall program. We respect and support each family and their diverse backgrounds, beliefs and input. We believe it is important for parents and teachers to communicate and we invite all parents to stop in anytime to see their child. We encourage parent involvement in the classroom and program planning.
